Ever wonder what a yoga therapy practice is like?

I recorded this sample yoga therapy practice for low back pain so you can check it out.

A few important things to note:

The first session of yoga therapy includes in depth intake and assessment. During the assessment for a physical condition, we’re looking to see how the postures feel and I’m also looking for imbalances, asymmetry, restrictions in range of motion, muscular weakness, etc so that the practice can address your specific needs.

When we work together, everything gets taken into consideration: if these postures work for you or not, the time of day you’ll be doing the practice, anything else going on in your body, energy, physiology, etc. Even if you come for low back pain, we can adjust for other things going on for you like knee issues or low energy.

This practice is about 23 minutes but it doesn’t need to be. It could also be 5 minutes a couple times a day. The best practice length is the one you can and will do.

A home practice is just one aspect of yoga therapy. For physical conditions such as low back pain, we also want to identify activities of daily living that contribute and see what we can eliminate, reduce or compensate for.
